The Department of Culture is proud to announce the return of Creatives Culture Labs 2025, an engaging series of workshops designed to inspire and educate Bermuda’s creative community. Running throughout March inside of MakerSpace, these free workshops offer opportunities to develop new skills and connect with like-minded individuals.
Minister of Tourism & Transport, Culture & Sport, The Hon. Owen Darrell, JP, MP, expressed enthusiasm for the programme, stating, “Creatives Culture Labs is an exciting initiative that celebrates and nurtures Bermuda’s artistic community. It’s also a great opportunity for creatives to experience the Department of Culture’s MakerSpace, located at CedarBridge Academy.”
One of the highlight sessions is the Float Building & Decorating and Bermuda Day Parade Information Session, scheduled for Sunday, March 9th, 2025, at MakerSpace. Hosted by float-building expert Chris Naylor, this hands-on workshop will provide invaluable insight into the creative process of designing and constructing Bermuda Day floats. Attendees will learn essential techniques, from structural design to painting and decorating, ensuring they are well-equipped to bring their ideas to life.
Representatives from the Department of Culture will be on hand to guide participants through the various categories of the Bermuda Day Parade, encouraging businesses, groups, and individuals to get involved. Whether you’re looking to build a showstopping float, enter a decorated truck, or participate in a walking group, this session will offer all the information needed to take part in one of Bermuda’s most beloved cultural traditions.
Other workshops in the Creatives Culture Labs 2025 series include Therapeutic Art Expression on March 14th, Book Publishing on March 15th, Canva 102 on March 17th, and the Creative Entrepreneur Panel Discussion on March 29th.
Spaces are limited, and early registration is encouraged. Sign up today at www.culture.bm. For further information, contact the Department of Culture at 292-1681.
