The Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors recognises the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, observed each year on December 3. The 2025 theme, “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress”, underscores the need for meaningful action to ensure that persons with disabilities can participate fully and equally in all areas of life.
Persons with disabilities continue to face barriers in accessing education, employment, public services and community life. The Ministry remains committed to promoting inclusion, safeguarding rights and advancing policies that support equal opportunities for all. This day calls on everyone to take part in building communities that are accessible, inclusive and compassionate.
In honour of this year’s observance, the Ministry encourages the public to take part in a range of positive actions, including hosting awareness events, advocating for improved access, sharing stories that uplift the voices of persons with disabilities, celebrating disability achievements across our communities and supporting organisations that champion disability rights and services.
We also encourage the public to attend the free community screening of Crip Camp, on Sunday, December 14, at Bermuda College, an event that brings people together to learn, connect, and celebrate inclusion.
The Ministry reaffirms its dedication to advancing disability inclusion across all programmes and services, ensuring that the voices and experiences of persons with disabilities remain central to decision-making. On this International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we stand with all individuals living with disabilities and reaffirm our commitment to building a society in which no one is left behind.
