"It is with deep sadness that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Corrections Officer Steven Perinchief, who tragically passed away from injuries sustained in a road traffic accident over the weekend.
“Corrections Officer Perinchief, who was posted to the Farm Facility, was a dedicated member of the Department of Corrections for 21 years, having worked at all three Corrections facilities.
“He was well-respected and appreciated by his fellow officers and the inmates he worked with, who held him in high regard. He exemplified the mission of the Department of Corrections, and his passing is a loss to the Department and the community.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time. The Ministry of National Security stands ready to support his family and all those affected by this tragedy.
“A CISM team within the Ministry of National Security is currently working with Mr Perinchief’s colleagues and inmates to support them during this time of grief."
