The Office of Youth Affairs (TOYA) will host the second annual 'Big Up Yaself' National Mini Youth Conference at The Botanical Gardens on January 30th and 31st, 2025. The conference will accommodate approximately 250 students over two days. Senior school students will attend on January 30th, while primary and middle school students will participate on January 31st. The event will take place from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily, with registration beginning at 8:00 AM.
Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, Tinee Furbert explained: “This two-day event is dedicated to young people under the age of 18, offering a range of workshops and activities designed to provide valuable information and guidance to support their personal development.
“Each year, the conference is guided by a theme aligned with the Government’s National Youth Policy, a five-year initiative focused on the empowerment and development of Bermuda’s youth. This year's theme is mental wellness, promoting awareness and understanding of mental health.
“Participants will learn how to recognise signs of mental health challenges, feel comfortable discussing their well-being, identify trusted sources of support, and adopt strategies to maintain a healthy mindset.”
Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Additionally, primary and middle school students will have the opportunity to join the Community Centre Night Out, an evening event featuring interactive activities at three local community centres. Participants will be transported from the Botanical Gardens at 5:00 PM and will enjoy structured programmes and a provided dinner until 9:00 PM.
Due to limited capacity, early registration is encouraged. Students not attending the Community Centre Night Out must be collected from the Botanical Gardens between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM. Parents and guardians are urged to secure a place for their children as soon as possible. For further details and to register, visit www.toyaevents.bm.
