Modernising Public Services: Government Enhances Website Search Capabilities for Better Access

The Government of Bermuda is advancing its commitment to digital transformation and public service efficiency by enhancing the Online Services section of its website. This upgrade will make it easier for the public to search for government services, submit applications, process payments, and access critical information more seamlessly.

This initiative, outlined in the 2023 Throne Speech, aligns with the Government’s promise to modernise service delivery, reduce bureaucracy, and improve key touchpoints for citizens and businesses. Additionally, it addresses feedback from the public in the Red Tape Reduction Consultation, launched in 2024, of the need for more user-friendly online services and greater efficiency and accessibility.

Of note, some of the key features of the Online Services Portal include:

  • Simplified Navigation: A more intuitive layout, making it easier to find services and applications.
  • Improved Search Functionality: Enhanced search tool to quickly locate relevant services and information.
  • Application Submissions
  • Permit Requests
  • Payment Processing

The Premier, the Hon. David Burt, JP, MP, who has championed the modernisation of government services through digital transformation and the cutting of red tape for more streamlined services, said, “Cutting red tape is not just about removing bureaucratic hurdles and eliminating unnecessary steps, it’s about ensuring that government services are more accessible, simpler to use, and efficient for the people who need them. These improvements to our Online Services section reflect our commitment to modernising government and making it easier for Bermudians to access services, submit applications, and find the information they need without unnecessary hassle.

“This initiative delivers on the promises for digital transformation that the Government made in the 2023 Throne Speech, Red Tape Reduction Consultation, and our National Budget. I am pleased to report that real progress is being made. The public has asked for better access to government services online, and we are delivering it.”

The Online Services section of the Government of Bermuda website is live but remains under continuous development as more services are added.

The Government will provide regular updates as this project progresses.
