EDD’s Fintech Webinar Series Showcases the Power of Data Science in Smarter Decision-Making

The Economic Development Department (EDD) is pleased to announce the third Fintech Webinar of 2025, set to take place on 13 March 2025 at 12 p.m. This online session will be led by Dr. Kevin Minors, a Bermudian Data Scientist who will discuss how data science enhances decision-making by transforming raw data into actionable insight.
The webinar will provide a comprehensive overview of the data science pipeline and its role in Fintech. Attendees will gain insight into:
-
What is data science? Understanding the principles and scope of data-driven analysis.
-
How does it transform raw data into data-centric decisions? Exploring the structured process of effectively collecting, cleaning, analysing, and applying data.
-
What are its applications in Fintech? Examining how data science revolutionises financial services, from fraud detection to predictive analytics.
-
What are its challenges? Discuss common obstacles in data analysis, including data quality, bias, and ethical considerations.
-
Live demo. A practical demonstration of data analysis techniques in action.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the session, Dr. Minors stated, "It is an absolute pleasure to talk about data science at the March FinTech webinar hosted by the Economic Development Department. Maths, Artificial Intelligence, and data science are passions of mine so I could talk about these topics all day. Specifically focusing on fintech applications is particularly exciting because technology is developing so quickly, allowing us to transform raw data into data-centric decisions faster and easier than ever before! On Thursday, in addition to the above, I will also give a live demo of the data science pipeline in action so those in attendance can see how powerful it can be."
The EDD's Fintech Webinar Series is part of its ongoing commitment to fostering innovation, supporting economic growth, and positioning Bermuda as a premier jurisdiction for Fintech.
