July 2025 Retail Sales Index
Today, the Ministry of Economy and Labour released the July 2025 Retail Sales Index publication.
July’s volume of retail sales index decreased 1.5 per cent compared to last year. In value terms, retail sales increased to an estimated $117.3 million.
Four of the seven sectors recorded year-over-year volume index decreases in July 2025:

Liquor Stores’ sales volume decreased 1.4 per cent.

The sales volume for Building Material Stores decreased 4.3 per cent.

The sales volume at Apparel Stores decreased 5.9 per cent.

Sales volume decreased 4.8 per cent in the All-Other Store Types sector (comprising stores selling household items, furniture, appliances, electronics, pharmaceuticals and tourist-related goods).
The following three sectors had increases in sales volume compared to the previous year:

The sales volume for Food Stores increased 0.3 per cent.

Motor Vehicle Stores’ sales volume rose 25.7 per cent.

Service Stations’ sales volume rose 3.4 per cent.
Selected overseas declarations decreased 12.0 per cent compared to July 2024.
