What waste is accepted at the public drop off?

The following waste items and materials can be taken to the Tynes Bay public drop off:

• Acids & adhesives
• Air conditioners and ducts
• Batteries – household. car and boat
• Building & construction materials
• Carpets
• Cleaning chemicals
• Cooking oil
• Couches
• Electronic items
• Fire extinguishers
• Fluorescent Tubes and CFL bulbs
• General household rubbish
• Household chemicals (weed killer, pesticides)
• Mattresses
• Motor oils, fluids, and cleaners
• Paint & thinners
• Paper & cardboard
• Plastic items (piping, furniture, etc)
• Pool chemicals
• Styrofoam
• TAG recycling (tins, aluminium, and glass)
• Wooden items (furniture, offcuts, and pallets)

7.2       Who can and cannot use this facility?

The Tynes Bay Public Drop off is a free waste disposal service available to the drivers of private cars, L and LP vehicles with a maximum of 4 bags of household garbage.  H, HX and other heavy vehicles may not use the facility to deposit waste of any kind.

7.3       Hours of operation.

Opening times for the Tynes Bay public drop off are as follows:

Monday - Friday: 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Saturdays: 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Sundays: 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Public Holidays: 9:00 a.m. until noon.
Christmas Day: Closed
